The following is a collection of resources for pediatric providers, patients, and their families to learn more about how best to utilize telehealth for pediatric and adolescent healthcare.

The New York School-Based Health Alliance (NYSBHA) is pleased to share with you a new resource developed specifically for School-Based Health Centers across New York State — the TeleBehavioral Health Optimization Toolkit.

As telehealth continues to expand as an essential mode of care delivery, many SBHCs have expressed the need for practical, actionable tools to strengthen the quality and effectiveness of their behavioral health services provided via video. To meet that need, the Alliance partnered with Ingenium Digital Health Advisors, led by Christian Milaster, to conduct a three-part statewide workshop series in 2025 focused on the hallmarks of excellent telebehavioral health. The sessions brought together clinicians, administrators, and support staff from SBHCs across New York to share experiences, identify common challenges, and exchange best practices.

The resulting Telebehavioral Health Optimization Toolkit was developed based on those real-world insights. It offers SBHC teams a concise, user-friendly guide to enhance student engagement, clinician confidence, workflow efficiency, and overall telehealth readiness. The toolkit includes:

  • Self-assessment tools to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement
  • Practical strategies for engaging students in telecounseling sessions
  • Guidance on workflow design and technology selection
  • Training and support frameworks to help clinicians and staff succeed

We hope you find this toolkit valuable as you continue to integrate and refine telebehavioral health services within your SBHC. Our goal in sharing this resource is to support your ongoing efforts to expand access to high-quality, student-centered behavioral health care across New York.
